MONDAY EVENING ITINERARY
The purpose of the Summit is to spark a community dialogue on the power of relationships in building and strengthening positive youth development at all ages across Bartholomew County. Keynote speaker, Steve Pemberton’s memoir, A Chance in the World, is the ideal community read to engage our residents in a conversation about building a supportive and inspiring environment that ensures our children, teens, and young adults will thrive.
6:00pm - Doors Open at The Commons - Youth and Family Resources Tables
Community partners hosting tables include: Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, Foundation For Youth, Columbus Parks and Recreation, Latino Education Group, Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress, Advocates for Children, and Bartholomew County Public Library. Steve Pemberton’s memoir available for purchase at Viewpoint Book table all evening.
6:30pm - 8:30pm: The Power of Relationships - Building a Supportive Community for Positive Youth Development
Community event open to the public. We would like to reserve the first two rows of seats for young people attending. This evening event kicks off a week of school speakers and activities focused on positive identity, community engagement, and youth empowerment.
6:30 - 7:15pm – Heather Carson, CYD Director, introductions (10 minute) and Panel Discussion (30 minutes)
Moderator, Columbus City Council Elaine Wagner & Panelists: Local Youth Leaders and Youth Advocates
7:15 - 8:15pm – Steve Pemberton, Keynote
8:15 - 8:30pm – Closing. Mr. Pemberton has the option to mingle with students after the event but will most of his time signing books.
