Personal power—Young person feels they have control over “things that happen to me.”
Self-esteem—Young person reports having a high self-esteem.
Sense of purpose—Young person reports that “my life has a purpose.”
Positive view of personal future—Young person is optimistic about their personal future.
Everyday Asset Building Tips:
Dwell on what children do right instead of what they do wrong
Avoid comparing young people with each other
Let youth know you are proud of their talents, capabilities, and discoveries
Listen when young people talk about their sense of purpose in life
Ask young people what they are passionate about
